IMPORTANT! USA Baseball changes Bat Rules

9-12 year old baseball players, please read!

Updated Wednesday November 22, 2017 by WRA Baseball Committee.

To All Baseball Players Age 9 through 12:

There are new 2018 bat rules and standards starting in January as defined by “USA Baseball”, the national governing body for baseball in the United States.  The standards are being adopted by all Cal Ripken and Little League programs.  We have added links at the bottom of this email for more information.

The WRA is required to implement this new rule for the upcoming season.  This rule effects ages 9 - 12; our American and National Leagues.  Therefore, these players must use new bats with a 2018 stamp on them.  Your old bats will not be allowed in games.

The league is purchasing a number of bats for our players to use during league play.  It is not a requirement that any family purchase one in order to play in any our divisions.

To accommodate our members that choose to purchase their own bats, the WRA partnered with a local sporting goods store, the  Runaround, to offer Easton bats at a discount.  These prices should be better than any found online or in stores.  WRA is offering this benefit to our families because we recognize these are difficult circumstances beyond our control.  In order to give the best price, we will have a pickup day for the bats rather than have them sent to you by mail.  WRA is passing on the full savings to our members and does not benefit financially on any of these transactions.

We are offering an online store for two separate periods.  The first period will be so families can get the bats in time for the holidays.  The second store will operate in January.

The store is open now and will close December 5th.

The link for the store can be found here:

Please contact Steve Labroli at with any questions.

Thank you,

The WRA Baseball Committee
