What is WRA Rec Select

The WRA Rec Select program is for players interested in a more competitive level of soccer. The goal of the Rec Select Program is to develop competitive youth soccer players by providing a quality learning environment and game experience against other competitive teams. This is for registered Intramural players interested to learn more skills with supplemental opportunities.

This is a great opportunity for the players who are developmentally ready for the next level of play in a more competitive atmosphere. This program can also be a good transition if your child is thinking about Travel Soccer in the future. These opportunities will be weekly clinics, games, and tournaments.

Rec Select will not interfere with any Intramural (IM) Team events. Players must attend their IM events. Travel players are not allowed to play on Rec Select teams.

Team Selection:

WRA offers Rec Select teams at U9 (Turning 9 years old this year, 2012), U10 (Turning 10 years old this year, 2011), U12 (Turning 12 years old this year or younger, 2009), and U14 (Turning 14 years old this year or younger, 2007). Teams will be composed of players wanting to play in local Rec Select tournaments and players must be available for a full day of tournament play during certain Fall weekends.

Teams are organized by the Rec Select Committee and friend requests will not be honored. The selection of the teams will be based on evaluations during the beginning of the Fall season clinics and player commitment. Teams will be divided into balanced teams with one team being the Select team for that age group.

Opportunities

Sunday Clinics (6) will be divided into U9-U14 levels starting in September Afternoon/Evening. Teams will play in a local Columbus Day weekend tournament with the option to play in other tournaments within the area (Lansdale, Upper Moreland, and Langhorne). These other tournaments will be played in October/November. Girls typically play their tournaments on Saturday, while boys typically play on Sunday.
